Mixed In Key Serial Code Mac

So I bought Mixed In Key the other day and was bitterly disappointed to find that you must pay for separate Mac and PC versions. Sorry, but that's a joke and I'm hard pressed to find any other developer of audio apps that does this. I bought it under the understanding I could use it on both my studio PC systema nd my Mac laptop. Looking over the home page I see no information that clearly states that you must pay for both versions. Just because theres eparate buy tabs for each does not make one assume so. Theres plenty of plugin developers that ask you to buy one version first and then require you to email or login for alternate versions.

Perhaps you should make this crystal clear on the info/purchasing page that buying one does not entitle you to the other. It was my fault for not asking first and making assumptions.

But considering it is standard practice that one licence covers both formats and that 99% of developers allow this it was an easy assumption to make. I've been on other forums such as KVR and noticed there's quite a few people who were taken in by this rubbish. I'd be happier if I knew the justification for it?

If you concerned about licence proliferation then do what everyone else does and ahve a standard number of licences available per purchase. What is the reasoning for this pricing policy?

Hi, Thanks for posting, I am happy to help. Some software companies sell their Windows and Mac OSX software bundled in a single package, but our licensing for the different operating systems is sold separately for Mixed In Key.

If you choose to purchase a license for each operating system, we will add you to our free lifetime upgrades - all future versions of Mixed In Key will be free for you on both operating systems. Selling the licenses separately allows us to keep the cost down for those who only need to purchase a license for one operating system. Cheers, Chad P. May I just add to other disappointed customers here.

Having to pay again for the same product is a tough pill for any client to swallow. Even MS with their EULA give a reduced rate for purchasing multiple licenses and let's not beat around the bush here. A Microsoft product is hugely disproportional to a little audio analyzing program like MIK. Let's also not forget that Mixed in Key is the most expensive within your competitive market which many independent reviews confirm are just as good or bad, depending on how the article is written. Paying for a good product with premium service support is why many customers have opted for MIK. If it is clear this isn't the case, then you may well find customers not upgrading and buying a similar product from one of your competitors for far less and recommending that product to friends and contacts.

I'm sure you are aware of the viral nature of social networks and 'new media' sites. I'm sure the last thing MIK needs is your customer's spreading negativity about your product which would certainly impact on the other software packages you sell too. $58 is a lot of money in anybody's book for a program of this size but to suggest that Mixed in Key is actually worth twice the amount and that you are doing your customer's a favor by splitting the package, certainly puts the MIK outside of any market acceptance level. OS X Lion in comparison costs just $25 which has far more substance to say the least. One should think very carefully before 'ripping' their customer's off. You may not think so and you believe your price is justifiable but it is clear to me and many others, that certainly isn't the case. I think the community here is after something a bit more acceptable.

Reduced rate on multiple licenses. Option to purchase with a life-time of free upgrades. Just 2 options that could well reduce or remove the sour taste they have in their mouths at the moment. Of course there are those who believe they are entitled to a free meal.

However, people must realize MIK is not 'freeware' or a charity. Well I realise NOW that the licenses are separate purchases. My point, however, is that a potential customer should be well aware of this before they buy something and not after. Maybe Im not looking hard enough, but I still haven't seen anywhere on your website state explicitly and obviously that one does not entitle you to the other. I agree with Woodz. While I can understand your reasoning as a devloper but you need to also understand the market you're in.

Yes, some software companies dont offer cross-platform licenses but the overwhelming majority of those in the audio industry do (ie. Plugin developers, DAW developers etc - which is the type of software your customers are most likely to be buying), and as such, it is generally considered by many that such a thing is almost par for course. And if its not, it really needs to be made clear to a customer during the purchasing process. I do not want free lifetime upgrades because I have no idea whether this program will continue to be of use to me in the future, or if the new updates will warrant forking out money for.

Considering there is no demo to speak of all we have to go by is word of mouth so it is something of a leap of faith to buy the program in the first place. In my own case, I would not have bought the program if I was aware of your policy and I at least ask that you make it clear to new customers in the future. Damn, I should've stuck with Melodyne:(.

We can switch the Mixed In Key license to Mac OS X for you at no charge, but it will no longer be valid for Windows. If you want to use the software on both operating systems during the same time frame we always ask our DJs to purchase separate versions. As a special 'thank you' for being a valued customer, we will give you free lifetime updates for all platforms after your purchase. All future versions of Mixed In Key will become free for you. If you only want to purchase one license, you can always use the tagged files on any computer and still view the results in your favorite DJ app. Cheers, Chad P.
